2.倍数的表示法
表示倍数时通常借助half, double, twice, three times等之类的词。如:
Half of our money goes on food.
我们有一半的钱花在食物上。
Many things now cost double what they did a few years ago.
许多东西比数年前贵了一倍。
比较以下三句，虽然表达形式不同，但含义相同:
(1)This rope is three times as long as that one.这根绳子是那根的三倍长。
(2)This rope is three times longer than that one.这根绳子是那根的三倍长。
(3)This rope is three times the length of that one. 这根绳子是那根的三倍长。
第(1)向和第(3)白的意思比较清楚，但第(2)包常容易误解，有人认为它与其他两句意思不同，应理解为“这根绳子比那根绳子长三倍”但绝大多数语法学家并不这样认为，而是认为以上三句意思相同。
3.小数的表示法
小数点前的数按普通基数词的读法读，小数点后的数按单个数字一-读出。小数点后的0通常读作oh，有时也读作nought或zero，小数点读作point，如“五点三九”可读作：
five point three nine。
4.百分数的表示法
百分数由基数词(或小数)和百分号(%组成，百分号(%)读作per cent，如“百分之六十”可表示为sixty percent。
65 percent of the 1987 budget went for nuclear weapons research and production.
1987年65%的预算经费被用于核武器的研究和生产。
And ninety percent of children go there.
百分之九十的孩子去那里。
Inflation will be down to three percent
通货膨胀率将降到3%。
Disney will retain a 51 percent controlling interest in the venture.
